Overview

Three UNESCO World Heritage sites in one day, with a government-registered guide and every monument ticket already paid for. The Great Living Chola Temples are three buildings raised across roughly a century: Brihadeeswarar at Thanjavur, Gangaikonda Cholapuram, and Airavatesvara at Darasuram. "Living" is the operative word — these are working temples, not ruins, and worship has continued in them for a thousand years. Seeing all three in a day only makes sense with someone who can explain what changed between them. Rajaraja's temple at Thanjavur is a statement of imperial power at a scale nobody had attempted. His son's at Gangaikonda Cholapuram answers it, more refined and deliberately slightly smaller. Darasuram, later again, is where the ambition turns to detail — miniature panels you have to lean in to read. Unusually for our tours, monument entrance fees are inside the fare. There is nothing to buy at any gate.

Questions

Are the monument entry fees really included?+

Yes. Guide fees, all monument entrance fees, tolls, parking, interstate permits and the driver's allowance are all inside the published fare. This tour is deliberately all-in.

Is the guide government-registered?+

Yes. The guide fee in this fare is for a licensed guide registered with the state tourism department — examined on regional history and architecture, and accountable for what they tell you.

How far apart are the three temples?+

They are spread across the Kaveri delta, which is why this is a full day. The routing is planned to keep driving time down; the driver knows the roads.

Which languages can the guide work in?+

Tamil and English as standard. Hindi and French can be arranged with notice — say so when booking, as those guides are limited in number.

What is included in the price?+

Govt. Registered Licensed Guide Fees, Private AC Vehicle & Professional Driver, All Monument Entrance Fees, All Tolls, Parking & Interstate Permits, Driver Allowance (Bata). The fare you see is the published fare — tolls, parking and the driver's allowance are already inside it, so there is nothing to settle with the driver at the end of the day.

What is not included?+

Lunch & Beverages, Video Camera Fees (if applicable), Personal Expenses (Shopping/Tips). These are paid directly where they arise, and we tell you about them before you book rather than at the gate.

How is the price calculated?+

One fare for the whole group, not per person. A family of four pays the same as a couple.

How many people can travel?+

Between 1 and 3 people on one booking. For a larger party, call us and we will arrange a second vehicle rather than squeeze you into one.

Can I cancel, and what do I get back?+

Cancel more than 72 hours before departure and you are refunded in full. Between 48 and 72 hours, half the fare is refunded. Inside 48 hours there is no refund, because the vehicle and driver are already committed to your booking. Approved refunds reach the original payment method within 7–10 business days.

How long does it take?+

1 Day. That is the time we plan for; temples do not run to a timetable, and a driver who hurries you through a darshan is not doing his job.
